Florida Cities

Florida is the 22nd largest state in the United States, and as such, it has many prominent cities, such as Jacksonville, Miami and Orlando. Jacksonville is the largest and most populated city in the state, as well as the largest city by area in the U.S. There are many attractions and events peppered throughout the year, including the Gator Bowl, the Gate River Run, the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, the Jacksonville Film Festival, the Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic, and Planetfest. Among the attractions are the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, the Jacksonville Maritime Museum, the Kingsley Plantation and the Fort Caroline National Memorial.

Miami is a major location for finance, commerce, culture, media, entertainment, the arts, and international trade. Miami is home to many large companies, television studios, radio stations and real estate developers. However, due to the abundance of beaches and other attractions, tourism is one of the most active industries in Miami. The city is also very appealing to sports fans, as Miami has teams in all four major leagues. They are the Miami Heat (NBA), Florida Panthers (NHL), Miami Dolphins (NFL), Florida Marlins (MLB). The city also has representation in college leagues with the Miami Hurricanes, FIU Golden Panthers, Barry Buccaneers and NSU Sharks.

Orlando is yet another attractive tourist destination, due in no small part to the presence of Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando and Walt Disney World. Other attractions include shopping malls such as Florida Mall, The Mall at Millenia, Orlando Fashion Square and Festival Bay Mall. However, not everything is fun in games in Orlando. Education holds a special place as well, with state Universities (University of Central Florida and Florida A&M University College of Law), state colleges (Valencia College and Seminole State College of Florida) and private institutions (Anthem College, Asbury Theological Seminary, Belhaven University, Columbia College, DeVry University, Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, Florida Institute of Technology, Florida Metropolitan University)
